About Sweepstakes

Each year the Washington State Rabbit Breeders Association conducts a yearly Sweepstakes Contest to encourage and promote the exhibition of rabbits in Washington State.

All WSRBA members are eligible to earn WSRBA sweepstakes contest points at any WSRBA sanctioned show. Members can earn points in six categories: open rabbits, youth rabbits, open commercial, youth commercial, open fur, and youth fur.

Each year, as part of the annual awards banquet that is held in conjunction with the WSRBA State Shows and Convention in June, the WSRBA presents awards to those individuals who have achieved the highest point accumulations throughout the year. Each sweepstakes contest runs from January 1 through December 31. Members are informed of scheduled affiliated shows through the WSRBA website and the newsletter. Standings are published periodically.

The number of points earned by an animal depends on the placing of the animal and the number of animals in the class. The following formulas are used to calculate the points earned.

  • 1st place receives 6 points times the number in the class.
  • 2nd place receives 4 points times the number in the class.
  • 3rd place receives 3 points times the number in the class.
  • 4th place receives 2 points times the number in the class.
  • 5th place receives 1 point times the number in the class.

In addition, points are won when animals receive the following special awards:

  • 100 points for Best in Show
  • 75 points for Reserve in Show
  • 50 points for Best of Breed with leg earned
  • 25 points for Best Opposite Sex of Breed with leg earned
